Hi I am a Malaysian.

For your information, I have just been offered a job based in Ho Chi Minh City. I have accepted the offer and will be there on next month.

However, I have few queries on the living cost at HCMC. Based on survey and findings from the Internet I have drafted the following expenses in Ho Chi Minh City.

Items - USD (per person)

Food - 300

Accommodation (one bedroom – furnished) -700

Transportation -100

Utilities (telephone, water, electric , cable TV) -200

Others -100

* Most probably I will be staying in district 7.

Kindly advice and correct me if I am wrong. Perhaps I would have missed out some other cost. Kindly also update me if you.

  1. I think 1400$ / per month helps you have a comfortable life in Vietnam.

Food: 300$ : It depends. I mean if you cook by yourself, it's  cheaper. If you have meals at cafeteria, it's cheap, but not hygienic and tasty. If you want to have meals at restaurant, I don’t think 300$ is enough for a month!!!

Accommodation: 700$ : you can find an apartment which is good enough for you.

Utilities (telephone, water, electric , cable TV) :200$: it's much cheaper ( I believe). I think 50$ is enough!

Others -100$: it depends on your lifestyle. For example, do you usually go to nightclub??? or go shopping???

Tranportation: Most Vietnamese people go to work by motorbike. How do you go to work??? By bus, motorbike, or another kind of tranportation???

Generally speaking, Living cost in Vietnam is not high, I think you will have a comfortable life in Vietnam with you budget!

    All the best!
