  1. Because Banff is such a popular tourist destination the cost of living there is very high, and the cost of housing is among the highest in Canada.  Be prepared to spend $1 million or more for a really big house.

  2. In order to live there you must work there!

  3. Many resort town employers provide accommodations for their employees.  I went to Jasper to work when I was younger and stayed in staff accommodations.  It was a great learning experience and I would recommend it to anyone.

  4. To buy a small condo is about $270,000.   A 2 bedroom apartment goes for about $1200/month.

From what I can tell there are no homes for rent.   It's tough to find a place to live in Banff.

Gas and electricity would be the same pretty much as anywhere else in Alberta

  5. There are three houses listed on www.mls.ca.  One for 850k,  one for 1mil and one for 1.25mil.  And you can't live in them until you have a job in the town.  A rough rule to set rent is one percent of the value per month.  I imagine the people that own houses there have businesses outside the town and one in town  to get them residency.

    The condos start at 345K.
