I'm going to be moving to Galway in August to work, I'll not be driving so will be riding a bike or taking the bus (if there is any)

Gonna be working in Ballybrit Industrial Park,

It looks like I'll be living in Salt Hill though its not definite How far / hard is it to travel from Salthill to Ballybrit ? Also is Salthill far from the city centre ?

Any Advice about it all ?

  1. Oh god your an awfully long way from Ballybrit, its gonna be a long commute for you and akward. If I were u id get a house in or around Ballybrit cause its even outta the way of the city centre.

  2. Salthill is about a 10/15 minute  trip by bicycle from the city centre. Ballybrit ind. park  is on the far side of the city and shoud take a further 25/35 minutes. You are talking about nearly one hour to get to work. Don't forget the weather in Ireland in the winter months is pretty miserable so invest in some good wet gear!!!!!!!! By the way you can forget about buses the are extremely unreliable!

  3. There's a bus that goes every morning though salthill directly to ballybrit industrial estate at around 7:45-7:55am.  On the way back, i think it leaves at half five but not sure if it goes to town or all the way to salthill.  If it goes to town, you can easily get the 37 bus into salthill.

If you cycle, you can make it there in around 30 minutes.  My husband cycles everyday from Knocknacarra (a little further out), and it takes him around 35(ish) minutes.  The problem with cycling IS the weather.  It's often raining or misty in the morning, worse in winter, so if you're die-hard about it, get some good rain gear.

Salthill is very close to the center of the city, and you can walk the scenic promenade on the way there.  feel free to email me if you have any more questions.
