Hi. I'm planning to take a french course in Montreal for six months. I will be living on my own, in an apartment. I already checked prices and that stuff, but what I dont' know is about food.. if it is expensive to get the groceries to have the three meals... ando also I need to know about transportation... In a few words what I need to know is how much money I need to survive there. (daily) please... I have never been there before.

Thanks!

  1. sorry girl but you are making a mistake by moving in Montréal ( wich is almost more english than french )(refering to your question the other day)

    but anyways..

living in Montréal isnt expensive, food is good and cheap. Theres a good metro/bus sytem..(I take it everyday)

but I cant say how much dailly you'll need :S..

    have fun..Its great city :)

    good luck

  2. i have been living in montreal my whole and the language depends on the area in which you'll be living in... it's always best to know both languages- especially if your going to be working here u should know your french but it all depends in which area u'll be living and working in- i would say that food is pretty affordable... actually im still 19 and living with my parents lol so i dont buy my food but ive seen friends plan out their budget and stuff... so if u plan out ur budget carefully u should be able to afford food- to get around its basically by metro or bus- note please try to avoid driving a car downtown cause there are wayyy to many people walkign around and just to much traffic... if u'll be in the downtown area its best to just walk- good luck!

  3. When vacationing in Montréal, I find that some inexpensive places to buy some groceries (so as to avoid eating in restaurants all the time) include:

    http://www.metro.ca/en/accueil.html

Oh, and here's a convenience store you can go to, though as is always the case with convenience stores, the selection and the prices don't compare favorably with those in supermarkets: http://www.couchetard.com/index.php?modu...
