Describe the appearance and design of the trench system. What facilities were made available to the troops?

  1. The trenches which were widely utilized during the WWI era, were dug into the Earth as a means for protecting troops from the enemy, the only thing it didn't protect from was aerial strikes and enemy artillery rounds. Few facilities were made available to the troops as little room was made available to move about. As a matter of fact the trenches were a breading ground for disease, including the flu strain of 1918 which was extraordinarily resilient to everything at the time period even penicillin.
