Question:

Living/eating with no kitchen?

I'm hoping to travel to France next year and enroll in a language study program. One of the Universities rents out their dormitory style rooms to students in the language program for a very cheap price.

However, because it's dormitory style, there is no kitchen. If I chose to live there, how could I eat healthily without a kitchen to cook anything?

I never lived in the dorms in college, so I don't know how this works.

  1. if you have a microwave you can look for packages at grocery stores that you can microwave.

ps: most recipes need a pot or pan.

  2. go out to eat

  3. You could use an electric hot plate to cook on. Toaster oven would come in handy.  A blender for smoothies and healthy shakes would be good. A Coffee maker if you like drinking coffee and a cube fridge for your refrigerated items.  Enjoy your time in France!

  4. I lived in the dorms for two years overseas and couldn't afford to eat out every single night. My brother, who is a chef, told me that I could just buy a microwave and parchment paper. Then I can go out and buy vegetables and meats, like chicken or fish. You just toss your vegetables with a cut of chicken or fish on a piece of square parchment paper, fold up the edges to make it look like a pocket and then throw it into the microwave for like 7-10 minutes on high. It was really tasty and you can really experiment with all kinds of produce.
