  1. There are many things you can do.  First, recycle!  It is simple and easy to do.  Next, buy one plastic, reusable water bottle.  All you have to do is clean it, and it is as good as new.  (They have some really cute ones at Victoria's Secret right now).  Instead of using paper towels, use cloth napkins that can be cleaned and reused.  Try not to use paper plates or plastic forks, knives, spoons, ect.  Try walking or riding a bike more than driving a car.  On a nice day, turn off the air or heat and open some windows, you can get a nice breeze.  Also, plants trees around your house.  They are good for the environment and also can shade the house which can save on air costs.  If you can, get a hybrid car (but you definitely don't have too, just a suggestion.)  Buy eco friendly products like dish washing liquids, and organic foods.  Or you can even plant a garden.  It will be good for the environment and save you money on groceries!  Buy reusable grocery bags, that way you will not have to fill so many landfills with them.  These are just a few ideas that you can try to go green.  Good luck.  :)

  2. well, the problem is not global warming, the problem is not climate change, the problem is not the waste, the problem is how we (humans) think?

so even if we tell you to do that this and those if in the back of your mind you're not convinced or you reallydon;t want well, in the end our tips are all senseless.

so, if you're asking how you can help and you really want to help well you know what. you've already done the first step in saying that i want to do something for the environment. because it willbe you drive to do green and it's the hardest part in convincing people it's how they decide, how they think.

if you're saying now that you REALLY WANT TO HELP. congratulations. you already did the first step, the rest will lie upon research on green liveing, doing things for the planet, etc. everything will follow.

    GO GREEN!

    there are alot of websites.

  4. Going green is easy, there are so many great resources about the subject. My personal favorite is "The Green Book" which has parts of its book online as well at www.readthegreenbook.com.

As I have been striving to "Go Green" I realize it is like stepping back in time without getting rid of my modern conveniences. I'm doing many things I learned as a child, like line drying my clothes, sweeping instead of vacuuming, opening the windows in the morning to catch the cool breeze, only buying what I need instead of everything that looks cool, growing some of my own food, and canning what I can't eat now.

To me "going Green" is a frame of mind. Do what fits your lifestyle and do the easy things first, it is a process and like dieting if you go to radical to soon, you are more likely to go back to bad habits. I also believe there are good, better, best choices in most things. If you aren't ready to start a home garden, then try finding a farmers market, until you locate one look for produce grown as close to home as possible and go organic when available.

Many people think "going green" is expensive, I disagree. Some changes may take an initial investment, but they usually have a short payoff time. Things like weatherstiping and insulation cost, but the energy savings will add up quickly. You may need to purchase reusable bags, but most stores give you a 5 or 10 cent credit, so you are paid back within a few months.

My top tips are make your home more energy efficient, that also means using natural light, cooling and heating.

Reduce your packaging, if you eat more fresh food you will generally reduce packaging, it's the same thing they tell dieters, shop the perimiter, that is where all the meat, dairy and produce are located. Only buy what you will use, many Americans throw away a lot of unused food. Buy in bulk, that doesn't just mean large packages, but that area with the bins that you buy only what you plan on using.

Replace disposable items with durable items, if you eat outside often and use disposable paper or plastic plates, it is a wise investment to purchase a set of reusable plastic plates. Replace disposable razors, diapers and cleaning products like swiffer. Avoid bottled water, get a home filter like Pur or Brita.

Recycle, www.earth911.org will help you locate the nearest recycle center. I try to only purchase plastics that are #1 or #2, they are more easily recycled. I also buy recycled products when available, that includes paper towels, napkings, toilet paper, tissue, school/office supplies and clothing.

Detox your cleaning, vinegar and baking soda clean almost anything, they can even losen a hair clog. Seventh Generation and Method are a couple mainstream brands that are very earth friendly.

Just start small and build from there, don't get overwhelmed.

  5. You could start by driving less and walking or taking you bike more often.  Recycle.

  6. there are many many ways to go green and most of them are simple and easy.

the biggest hurdle is getting out of the conspicuous consumption/throwaway mentality

start small and grow with it

recycle aluminum, glass plastic (hey you even get money for that!)

ride a bike to school and work, (saves gas AND you keep in good shape having fun)

or ride share when you cant bike (again saves money and now you have company on the commute) of course you could also look at shortening your commute (but thats a long term plan)

plant a garden (water time and money savings when you replace that useless front lawn with an edible garden) besides with all the food scares (spinach, tomatoes etc) you feel safer growing your own. and yes you can even do this in an apt. (there are LOTS of resources for info) you can even amp this up and create a backyard habitat for local wildlife and it makes the maintance costs and time go way down for your yard, is beautiful and a lot of fun

then there is things you can do for your vehicle- you dont need  to go out and buy a fancy expensive new hybrid. look at local resources for alchohol for fuel - it costs only a few hundred $$ to convert a car to use it. there is also bio fuels. you DONT HAVE to do anything to convert a diesal to vegetable oil and if you want to go the whole biofuel route you can adjust your vehicle for a couple of hundred $$ AND you can make the fuel  in your back yard nothing more than purifying waste vegetable oil.

these are just a few ways to begin and continue - i think you will be most surprised how much you can accomplish with such simple beginnings. even if there werent global warming (and there is) its a better way for our home enviornment, our town, county and state enviornments as well

its a win win thing for everyone and besides we need to stop being the only species that fouls its own nest!!!

  7. if you mean living green like a tree hugger than become a hippie

if you mean living green like money green start in stocks

  8. note to all Americans: DON'T BUY ALL THOSE PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES!! USE ONE, SINGLE, REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE!!!
