  1. Having lived in Perth at one time, I do have a little insight into this.  Matter of fact if I'd had my then 2 yr old QH colt with me, I might have made some money.

Now one of the owners of my AQHA mare's foals (A Palomino filly) actually sold the filly and she went to the UK and she did so using Dreamhorse.com.

You said "Paint" now do you mean APHA registered or just pinto in colouring?

I'd check through the cutting horse NCHA,  http://www.nchacutting.com/ and see if they have a classified section as well and what the price tags they are getting for proven cutters.

IF I remember correctly, you can advertise that there is NO quarantine with horses coming from Australia to the US too.

I'm seeing on Dreamhorse.com that a proven cutting horse stallion can go from anywhere from $25,000.00 to $60,000.00 (US)...

    Geldings, $6,500 - $25,000.00 (US).

    Best of luck.

  2. just a question why do you want to sell him in america?

there specialty is western type horses and they have a lot of high quality ones already.. so why would they pay for an Ausie horse that they know nothing about?

also the horse market is down, the dollar is weak and america is over-populated with horses since the slaughter houses were shut down.

so i think you would get more money selling him in australia.

    but good luck anyway.

  3. Just FYI, the market is really low over here. The only thing I'm seeing that's not effected top-notch performance horses, and that's because there's always a strong demand for those horses-the people paying 6 figures for horses are seldom effected as much as someone who is worrying about hay prices over the winter.

Unless he is marketable to that crowd and someone is willing to spend 7-10k to have him imported then you'd get more bites over there. Especially because there are a ton of high-quality Western horses over here that people don't need to import.

However, if you think he'll sell-the best thing is to contact big-name trainers in that particular discipline who will most likely take a small commission of his sale to find a home for him over her(10% is standard). You can put him on dreamhorse or something if you want, but I would work with someone over here, it'll be easier and more successful than an internet ad.

  4. When selling horses overseas aside from running into the currency exchange (the American dollar is very week) there is also customs and a quarantine period for any horses coming over.

To be honest I am not sure how people sell horses from overseas unless they are specifically looking. You can try finding American horse sale sites such as equine.com and horseweb.com. If you have a good video and a good enough ad you might catch the right person's eye.

Just so you know the American economy is not doing so hot and the equine industry is suffering. I have been trying to sell my horse for almost a year with no luck so I finally gave up and will be building a barn to bring him home to save money. I don't think many people are buying horses right now.

  5. put him on american horse advertising websites

    equine.com

    dreamhorse.com

    horsetopia.com

    etc

make sure to clarify your horse is from australia
