Hi. I'm considering moving to Brisbane from Manchester in England. Would anyone from / or has travelled to Brisbane have any advice (does and don'ts) for someone like me. I have visited before, but never lived or worked there. Do you think it would be a good move?

  1. IF YOU THINK YOU CAN HANDLE THE HEAT & HUMIDITY THAT WE GET HERE IN SUMMER GO FOR IT IF NOT PICK A SOUTHERN STATE NSW/VIC/SA AS THE CLIMAT MAY SUIT YOU BETTER

  2. I live in Brisbane and think it's a great place. The city is vibrant, the lifestyle is laid back, the people are friendly and welcoming to newcomers, the climate is fantastic (especially between March and November) and there's plenty of work in most occupations. Some of the suburbs are really nice, particularly in the Western suburbs, but accomodation is becoming expensive in most areas. The nearest surf beaches are at least an hour away and public transport is not very good. Dining out and nightlife are excellent and of course, the Gold and Sunshine Coasts are only an hour or so away when you feel like a change.

You haven't given any details about yourself e.g. your age, preferred lifestyle, occupation etc and they would all be useful in framing a more detailed answer.

All of the above is academic though if you're not able to get a visa and they are very hard to come by. If you haven't already done so, go to the government immigration and citizenship website http://www.immi.gov.au/ and check your eligibility and points test score.
