Question:

Living in Costa Rica?

I want to live in Costa Rica for a year to study Spanish. (I do not want to go through a program or stay at a host family house.) I have read that Americans can only stay in Costa Rica for up to 90 days. Does anyone know how I can go about staying for 6 months to a year?

  1. I was preparing to move there last year, but decided not to after an extended visit.

go the the state website. they have visas for students to do pretty much what you're talking about doing. It doesn't have to be a formal program, like with a college or anything.

It's a poor country so you better have enough money for your stay. finding work will be very hard.
