Living in India?

We have some very dear friends here in the US whose parents and relatives still live about 8 hours from New Dehli. They have invited us numerous times to visit and stay as long as we would like. They are farmers, so it would be something that would be very interesting and an adventure. But, can a couple take 10000.00 US dollars with them and should they decide that India is a place for them, would they be able to live and survive?

  1. Life in rural farming areas is generally away from the hectic and bustling crowds of the city and so, comparatively, you will have a more peaceful visit. Eight hours away from Delhi is this in Harayana or UP?  Either way, it should be interesting though you may not get all the modern conveniences -- such as shopping, internet etc. for which you may have to come to the closest towns or city.

Do your research on the internet about various places to visit north, south, east and west of Delhi  -- and there are plenty !! -- before you get to this farmplace.  A suggestion would be to use this place as a base and then travel as per your convenience, try booking your accomodations in advance through the internet  -- $ 10, 000 is a good amount to spend for about six months or so -- when you say live and survive, obviously this money will run out  at some point, if you plan sightseeing trips... happy travels and enjoy your stay.
