Living in Trinidad?

Hi my boyfriend and I are both of Trinidadian and Jamaican decent and are going to be moving to POS for a year. We have both just finished are degrees in England. Our main reason to come to Trinidad is to visit relatives and just have some trini fun but we also want to do some work out there so we can meet more people and better our experience.

Has anyone got any suggestions on what jobs are available, wages/salaries, things to do, prices for running a car, ect, ect.

Also, any suggestions on TT websites that are interesting, and any other infomation that you think I might want to look at would be great.

Thanks

  1. with respect to jobs- there are lots of websites that may assist you - what type of job are you looking at ? what are you qualified for ?? the type of job wil determine the wage and so on- the minimum wage currently is $10 per hour -

    www.visitnt.com is a useful site

and well in terms of fun stuff im sure your relatives will take you around and ensure you have a blast.....hope you guys have a good time !!!

  2. Trini Sam Government address is great since it covers all aspects from Health to Recreation

    Try these sites:

    www.triniview.com

www.top5trinidad.com (great site since it includes everything and then some!  including some hilarious Jamacian Jokes)

  3. Here are a few websites that should help you ☺:

http://www.gov.tt -That is the governments website. It has lots of info about TnT and all the legal stuff etc. It would help you the most, and covers lots of topics about the country.

http://www.gov.tt/abouttnt/ -This part of the govt's site has info about TnT in general.

http://www.trinidadexpress.com -This website has the national news of Trinbago, incase you want to check that out to see current events and stuff.

Jobs depend on your qualifications, but there are many avaliable jobs. The Trinidad and Tobago Dollar, or TTD is currently at an exchange rate of 1USD=6.27TTD.

Minimum wage is $10, which is about $2 USD.

I sugest renting a car, because buying one, just to use for one year, would be a waste. If you alredy have a car, you can most likely ship it down to Trinidad.

The price of a gallon of gasoline in Trinidad is about TT$12, or US$1.89, which is pretty cheap.

Trinidad is a paradise, and youll enjoy it there, wish you guys all the best!!! ☺
