hi all,

i have one query related to the previous one but little bit more specific. i have received one scholarship from irish government and now i can move to Dublin. The scholarship amount is 1350 euros per month. Would it be sufficient for two people to live in dublin with this money? would it be extremely tough or head to mouth manageable? please BE CRITICAL!!! your suggestion is the only source of decision. thanks! Marro!

  1. That was nice of the Irish govt to give you a scholarship and 1350 a month why don't you just sign on welfare and collect some more

  2. You could probably survive but you won't have a great quality of life. Your biggest expense by far would be rent. City centre rent is very expensive - check out www.daft.ie to get an idea of prices. You'd be better off living in the suburbs where rent could be a bit cheaper. Utilities are usually not including in rent so you're looking at about maybe €50~100 a month more for these (electricity, gas or oil, tv cable, phone). A weekly supermarket shop in a budget supermarket (Lidl or Aldi) would probably be about €80. A monthly student bus ticket is €64 each (€80 if your partner is not a student). That's before you factor in clothes and any social life...

  3. No chance.  You'll probably have to commute AND get some other income, or live somewhere very grotty and/or crowded.

I've no idea, but is your scholarship taxable?

I live in Carlow about 50 miles south of Dublin, and commute in 3-4 days a week - feel free to drop me an email if you've any specific queries.

Congratulations on your scholarship, by the way!

  4. You'll both need to get jobs aswell. That much money will hardly cover food and rent in Dublin,

  5. the way u can do that is by living away from dublin its very dear to live in dublin city 1350 won t go far for two of you i lve in ireland galway which is the west coast iand i find it hard to live but i do it

if 1350 is for food and rent good luck with it !
