  1. Huge question... First analyze why you want to live here. Evaluate what you hope to find and what life you want? Do you want a cosmopolitan life like Barcelona has to offer or do you want to live in a white washed small village in the campo like Torrox? You can get a non-lucrative visa and by pass the work visa application process. You need to have 75,000.00 USD in savings.  Work,, what do you want to do? What are your language skills? What do you have to offer that is needed here?  You can live very well on 700 Euro a month in some cities and you would starve in others!

Best of luck and continue seeking answers,, it is worth it to live here!

  2. Well I am English and I moved to Menorca 9 years ago.I think it all depends on what you consider a good job and a good life to be.I could make more money doing the same job in London(where I used to live)but the quality of life I have here is so much better.Every morning I wake up and go out on my terrace overlooking the Mediterranean sea and it relaxes me.The pace of life is much more relaxed here,it's not all rush, rush and you are not constantly trying to keep up with your neighbours. In England I felt people tended to take things at face value, but here nobody really cares what you have or don't have(obviously there are still a few that do,but not like in England)I wish you good luck if you decide to go for it.I have my ups and downs here like anywhere but overall after 9 years I know I could never live in London again.......just my opinion

  3. I agree with LoopyLin. It really depends on the life you are looking for. I have two children and to see them come out of the school gates chatting, in Spanish, to their friends warms my heart and helps reassure me that we did the right thing at the right time for their ages. We bought our Farmhouse and we weren't under financial pressure to find work immediately, which gave us time to enjoy where we live and to get to know customs and some more people. As UK citizens we don't need papers or documentation to work as it's all part of the EU. We work here and pay Taxes here the same as the Spanish or the same as we would in the UK. If you already speak Spanish you've already halved you problems, too! Mine was "poco" but have learnt a h**l of a lot and quickly while living here!!!!! Opening your curtains to the sunshine every day and not grey skies is a lot better, physically too! Where you live depends on what you can afford! Marbella or The Costas if you are very wealthy or inland if you aren't!!! Learning to be "Tranquillo" is the hardest thing to learn as an ex-UKer! Good luck and have fun looking!

  5. You need a work visa if you are not EU citizen. But anyway for work and having fun the best place is Barcelona but from there you can travel everywere in the world and in spain. It's not pretty difficult to have a job in Barcelona

  6. Unfortunately, if you aren't an EU citizen, you need a work visa, which seems to be very difficult to get. I would love to live there too!

    :(

  7. I you are an US citizen, you´ll need a work or resident visa to ive here and that´s very difficult to get it. Work possibilities are moreless difficult depending in what you work. If you have Spanish citizenship or you have a Spanish or European parent, it would be easier to get a visa or in case you have an Spanish parent, to apply for the citizenship. The minimum wage here rounds 640 euros(792$). With that you can live great, but you can´t buy many things, because here things are more expensive than in the US. If you are a doctor or you´re working in medicine, it would be easy for you to find a job after you make all the legal process.
