What was it like to live in a city in the Soviet Union during the 70s and 80s?

  1. For the ordinary citizen fine. Everyone had somewhere to live, a job, free health care.

    Over 40 million Americans wish they had that.


  2. i think it sucks... u don't have any freedom and they are racism and persecution every where in the soviet union at that time.

    If you dare speak against the regime than you get jailed or worst killed.  

  3.     One of the greatest of the great, Alexander Sholzenexon, recently passed away, read his books: IE "One life in the life of...." and others. Alex was a dissident that wrote his books during the Stalin regime and was soon in the Gulag camps and wrote extensively about them.

  4. Not that bad if you could just plod on with the everyday grind - and you still had your f******n.

  5. I was born in the USSR(Karelia,Lahdenpohja), 1972. Good there were times...
