Living in what era?

If I could live in any other century or what not, I would choose the 19th century. This way I could wear all of the gorgeous clothes, there would be so much more modesty in society, and everything is so mysterious in the century.

What would you pick? Future counts : ]

  1. The Middle Ages or the Renassiance! Good times, good times.

  2. I wouldn't chose another era.  I like the time and place in which I live.  I love plumbing and voting rights for women and microwaveable foods and being able to import goods rom Japan and get them 3 days after I order them.  I love still having land in which humans have not built upon and air which is still safe to breathe.  We're at a point in time in which we have good medical knowledge and good technology, but also the beautiful natural world which is fast decaying.  The past seems romantic to me, but I'm sure that it didn't feel that way to the people at the time and that the past has been overtly romanticized by our culture.  The future is equally bleak in my eyes, having neither the oppression that Orwell's '1984' predicted and the doomsday-ness that the gullible predict, nor the perfect idealistic utopia that many are apt to hope for.
