Question:

Living on Maui?

Aloha. I have moved to Oahu 4 times. Each time I really struggled to make it work but ended up moving back to the mainland. I love Hawaii, its people, culture, scenery, etc. I really want to live there. Do you think I would have an easier time if I tried Maui or would Maui be just as difficult to make it work? Thanks.

  1. I have done some research and it seems as though it is easy to find work there (although they wouldn't exactly say that its hard to find work).  So I would suggest asking some people you know have lived there before or go there and look to see if you can find work there before you decide to move in.  Good luck!

  2. Maui wowee.  Oahu sucks in comparison.

  3. If you want to pay $1000 for a 500 sq ft ohana then I would go for it.

  4. There are plenty of minimum or near minimum wage jobs there, but again its affordable housing thats the problem.   I'd go to the big island where most everything is cheaper.   Or try working on the cruise ships there.   Then all your expenses would be paid and you could visit all the islands every week.   Check out Norwegina Cruise Line Americas web page for jobs.

  5. Everything is more expensive on Maui than on Oahu.  If it was money that kept you from being able to stay on Oahu, then it will only be much worse on Maui.
