  1. Welcome the Cricket section of Yahoo Answers...

"Acggoa House DPC" sums up the story pretty well, just want to add the following:

He embraced Islam and changed his name from Yousaf Youhana to Muhammad Yousuf.

He has set the world record for the highest number of test runs in one calendar year, breaking the record of great Viv Richards

While in the process of setting this record he also claimed the record of making the highest number of test centuries in one calendar year

Currently he is not a first choice for the Pakistan T20 team (recently he was dropped for T20 match against BD), although a regular in the ODI and Test team

He is quite upset on the PCB's cold shoulder and also that he couldn't be auctioned in the player bidding of IPL, because of the pending litigation by the ICL in a Mumbai Court.

The decision of the court is expected within 2 days

  4. Mohammad Yousuf (Urdu: محمد یوسف; formerly Yousuf Youhana, Urdu: یوسف یوحنا) (born 27 August 1974, Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan)

Yousuf was one of a handful of Christians to feature in the Pakistan cricket team until his conversion to Islam in 2005. He had embraced Islam after attending regular preaching sessions of the Tablighi Jamaat, Pakistan's largest non-political religious grouping, whose preachers include Yousuf's former team-mate Saeed Anwar and his brother. His wife converted along with him, however the news was kept private for three months due to family reasons, before his announcement of their conversion publicly in September of 2005. "I don't want to give Yousuf my name after what he has done," his mother was quoted as saying by the Daily Times newspaper. "We came to know about his decision when he offered Friday Prayers at a local mosque. It was a shock," his mother was reported as saying. However, Yousuf told the BBC that "I cannot tell you what a great feeling it is." As part of his conversion, Yousuf officially changed his name from Yousuf Youhana to Mohammad Yousuf.

Former Pakistan cricketer and noted commentator Rameez Raja acknowledged the significance of Yousuf's new faith, "Religion has played an integral part in his growth not just as a cricketer but as a person."
