Liz Carmouche believes she can defeat Ronda Rousey – UFC News
Ronda Rousey stands as an unbeaten fighter who will be making her UFC debut on February 23 but Liz Carmouche, Rousey’s opponent, believes she can win the showdown. Liz, who is 28-year-old, comes with 29 fights in her bag. The Ultimate Fighting Championship
chose her over much more popular names such as Sara McMann and Miesha Tate.
When asked, Liz revealed that the reason she was selected to face Rousey was her hunger. According to Liz, she asked for Rousey and she got it while others did not make the move.
“It was actually something I heard Dana White say before,” said Liza to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour on MMA Fighting. “That if you ask for it they'll do their best to give it to you. I figured the more I campaigned and asked -- that if you ask for something,
you can't fail. I mean certainly if someone says no then you tried, but if you never try then you'll never know. So I had to try and give it all I had and it worked out.
“I think [the UFC picked me to be Rousey's opponent] because I was the only one that asked for it.”
Liz probably got the shot of her life against Rousey, and she is excited to go forth with it. Unlike others, she is not complaining or making excuses, instead she is good spirits hoping to make the best of the opportunity.
Liz added that she had a huge grin on her face and her cheeks were hurting when President of the Ultimate fighting Championship Dana White offered her the match. For Liz, it was an unexpected call but she believes she got it because she asked for it.
Liz and Rousey will be making history by going head to head in the cage in UFC’s first ever women mixed martial artist bout. It will be a title shot for Liz and a title defence fight for Rousey. Of course, Rousey is favourite for the showdown but what needs
to be seen is if Rousey will be able to defeat Liz in the very first round, like she always does with her opponents.
