I am currently feeding my lizard flys, but when I get home, I am going to go to the local pet store and buy him some crickets or something, can I change his diet like that? What would happen? Would he eat the crickets or would he be waiting for the flies and refuse to eat the crickets???????????? Would a lizard live in a car for about eight hours, maybe ten?

  1. Okay... First, about the car thing.  Chances are, no - A lizard would not be ok in a car for 8-10 hours.  It also depends on where you live, though. Often when it's sunny out a car can heat up very quickly, which can dangerous or even deadly for your lizard.  Not a good plan at all.  However, if you mean you're travelling and need to bring the pet with you, they should be ok in a running car for that long, as long as the temperature doesn't get too hot or cold.

Now, about the food... It depends a lot on what kind of lizard it is.  A good rule of thumb is to feed only instects shorter than the width of the lizard's head.  It is ok change types of insects.  Each lizard has likes and dislikes (just like humans each like different foods more than others), so there's no way to know for sure whether or not he'll like them.  A varied diet is good for your little critter.  You could also try feeding mealworms, and the occasional waxworm, silkworm, hornworm etc. Good luck :)
