Lizard eating sand is this serious?

my new toad headed agama is eating sand. I've heard of compacting is this a serious threat for my new lizard? also his legs tail and head are all lighter than the rest of his body. Could this mean it''s getting ready to shed? if so what can i do to make it's shed successful? Thanks

  1. Sand is dangerous and has been known to cause impaction in a lot of lizards. Calcium sand is the most dangerous.

  2. sand is never  usually reccomended especially with young lizards. I'd take the sand out.
