i'm going to get a lizard really soon, but my mom said i needed to do research on them first. so can anyone tell me as much as they know about them? and tell me how there habitat has to be, what they eat, how you can determine their s*x, what they don't like, what they do like, where to put them, etc. oh and how long do they live? do any of you have one? how is it's behavior? oh and can you hold them? are they dangerous? how much do they cost? just give me as much information as possible. thanks!

  1. Your mom is right; research should come first. It sounds like you haven't even decided on what type of lizard you are interested in buying. Depending on the type of reptile, they could have very different habitats.

Here are a few that might be of interest to you:

    http://www.leopardgecko.com/emcare.html

What you really need to do is go out and buy a few books on the subject. Reptiles are not as easy as just going out and buying all the stuff. They require a lot of know how.

  2. first off, what kind of lizard? we have a salamander, gecko, and an iguana. salamander and gecko eat meal worms and crickets, iguanas eat leafy greens, you should look up what kind of greens they can and can't have some kinds can be bad for them they also have pellets that you buy.

  3. for a first lizard i would suggest you to pick a leopard gecko or a crested gecko.

leopard gecko are easy to care for. they eat crickets and waxworm and mealworms. they are very calm and love to be handle. here are some care info:

if you want a more active gecko you could pick a crested gecko. They  can be handle but they are more jumpy and un predictable.they are fun to watch. you dont have to give them bugs you can buy only crested gecko diet .they live in humidity so you have to mist the tank with a spray bottle of water (that have never contain chemical product)

her are some website with more info:

    http://www.thegeckospot.com/crestedcarei...

i have both and they are very good lizard to beggin with.

they can live up to 20 years so they are lifetime pets.

  4. umm you are so blind to the fact that there are thousands of types of lizards that you can buy.im not sure if you should get one because you know absolutely nothing about them.but if you have to have one first start with looking at pictures and find one that appeals to you.then find out what kind of lizard it is.then seach for a caresheet for it on google and just keep researching everythign about it then buy the stuff for it and when you have the cage set up for them then you go buy it and once you get home put it in the cage.when its in the cage dont hold it for 5 days.then after 5 days start holding it every day to make sure it doesnt get aggressive.i hope i helped.

  5. Ok, well first off, there are hundreds of species of lizard. Each one has a different temperment, size, tamability, coloration, and gender differences.

Instead of asking on here, you need to go to the library and just read books on lizards. Too many people on here are stupid and give wrong information. If you want correct information, go to the library
