Lizzie Simmonds, Michael Rock, Joanne Jackson and Emma Saunders are still optimistic about their future participations, even after facing failure at the 2011 British Gas Swimming Championships.
The 400m freestyle Beijing Olympic Games bronze medallist, Joanne Jackson, who failed to defend her British title from Rebecca Adlington and Jazmin Carlin, was hopeful of making a splash at the upcoming British trials for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Jackson suffered severe illness in the past few months but has reached her best timing that brought her bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic Games.
In addition, the European gold medallist for the 200m back-stroke, Lizzie Simmonds, who also failed to secure her spot in the British Swimming team for the 2011 Shanghai World Championships, said that she has not lost hope and is completely focused towards
the second World Championships trials to be held in Sheffield, during June.
Michael Rock, who dominated the Men’s 100m and 200m butterfly and earned his Shanghai qualification spot, was very confident of reaching the podium in his events at the world stage.
The 16-year-old Emma Saunders, who will be joining Fran Halsall in the 4*100m freestyle event at Shanghai, was very excited and said that she will post her best time to secure the gold medal. Halsall, who won five medals at the European Championships and
Commonwealth Games, was happy to have such a motivated fellow swimmer and said that the 2011 World Championship are going to be fun.
All these swimmers are training at the British Swimming’s camp base, to prepare for the 2011 World titles. Performance director to British Swimming, Michael Scott was extremely happy with the efforts of their swimmers.
Scott was impressed with their performances and said that British swimmers are stimulated towards raising the flag of their country on the world stage, in Shanghai.
Joanne expressed that she will compete at the upcoming Britain trials but her focus remains on qualifying for the 2012 London Olympics and reaching the podium at the biggest stage of sports.
