Lleyton Hewitt backs Bernard Tomic to hit the sublime form back in 2013 – Tennis News
Former world number one, Lleyton Hewitt, has backed the 20-year-old Aussie star, Bernard Tomic, to bounce back into the elite category after a dismal season that yielded nothing at all except frustration for Tomic. It has been
a pathetic season for Tomic who showed great promise in 2011 to be the Top-10 player in the coming days. He did well at the start of the season and reached the 27th rank in the world but stumbled apart very cheaply in multiple tournaments that forced
him to slide down at an excessive pace; dropped out of the Top-50 category and ended the season as world number 51.
However, the 31-year-old Hewitt believes that the kid will learn from his mistakes. He is too young to be bashed for his unprofessional attitude. He has to learn a lot of traits to be a competitive athlete at the courts. He has
the capability of reaching the heights of the world of tennis and he has a lot of time in his career to accomplish the goals. Crowd needs to be easy on the lad and help him groom rather than disrespect and demoralise him that will only hurt his game.
Hewitt said, “He's had an average year on and off the court. It's been tough for him mentally more than anything. He probably was a little bit burnt out by the end. It doesn't surprise me that he didn't jump into the top 10 this
year because sometimes that second year is tougher than your first year. He's got to get back out there and do the hard yards and work on small areas in his game to become a better player. Obviously his dad has done so much for him and he probably trusts his
dad more than anyone else out there.”
The 82nd ranked Aussie stated the Tomic is lucky to have him for any sort of advice. Tony Roche, Pat Rafter and Josh Eagle are other big names that will help him at anytime of the day. He just needs to talk about the
issues and everything will be fine. He needs to sort out few areas in his game that are weak. I have spoken to the kid and he is optimistic about returning to the top form in the next season. Hewitt also proclaimed that Tomic knows the problems he is facing
at the courts and will shortly work out on issues.
