Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 believes that the English Premier League is as tough and competitive as the Champions League.
The highly rated Frenchman made a high profile deadline day move to White Hart Lane from French club Lyon.
Lloris had been chased by Tottenham for quite some time, especially ever since Andre Villas-Boas took charge of the North London club. The Portuguese tactician had identified Lloris as the long term replacement for the aging http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953 and the club's future
No.1 goalkeeper.
Having made his move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, Lloris had to be patient and wait for his chance. The player was refused a starting spot in the first team, with Friedel ahead of him in the pecking order. The American's impressive form in front of goal saw Lloris bide his
time on the bench, and the player was visibly unhappy with his role at Tottenham.
This fuelled a lot of speculation regarding the player's future at the club, with many claiming that a January transfer was on the cards. Lloris had publicly stated his displeasure at his current situation, and more transfer speculation started doing the
rounds in the media.
The player had only managed one start in the Premier League up until last month and had to make do with appearances in the Capital One Cup and the Europa League.
However, now Lloris has three consecutive starts to his name. The French shot--stopper started the North London derby against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and West Ham United.
Having had a proper taste of English football, Lloris claims that in many ways, the English Premier League is as tough as the Champions League. Speaking to the French media, Lloris said:
"I'm still discovering it, but what is certain is that the Premier League is very different from the French championship. Facing teams like Liverpool, it is close to being in the Champions League."
"More importantly, there is very little downtime. It goes flying from all directions and sometimes it is a little crazy. Teams never give up. That is the beauty of English football and you must be strong."
