Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 was pleased with his debut against Lazio on Thursday night, but was left frustrated after Spurs failed to win the game.
The goalkeeper was a late addition to the Spurs squad as he made a high profile deadline day move to White Hart Lane from French outfit Lyon.
The keeper had been a high priority target for Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas and was understood to be seen as the long term replacement for current keeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953.
Many had thought that the goalkeeper would be immediately thrust into Tottenham’s starting 11, but Villas-Boas insisted that this will not be the case. Following Friedel’s impressive performances, the manager said that Lloris would have to prove his worth
if he wishes to start in goal.
These comments had stirred up a controversy and there were reports that suggested that Lloris was not pleased with his manager’s comments. Other reports hinted that there had been a rift between player and manager, and already Lloris was not happy at the
club
However, the player later on said that he was willing to wait for his chance and will fight for his spot in the team. He admitted that he will have to work hard and was up to the challenge.
The French international finally made his debut for the club in Thursday night’s Europa League clash against Italian outfit http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775. The 25-year old kept a clean sheet as his side were held to a 0-0 stalemate against Lazio.
Tottenham had seen three goals disallowed on the night, and were left frustrated as once again they failed to manage a win at White Hart Lane. Speaking to the press after the game, Lloris said:
"It was my first match for Tottenham.”
"It's good to not concede any goals, but we wanted to win. We deserved to win but there were questionable refereeing decisions. I had a peaceful evening, but it's never easy. I had to stay focused all the time - anything could be dangerous for me.”
"That game allowed me to play a little in this adaptation period [to life at Tottenham], to know this stadium and to be with my new team-mates. On the whole, it was positive."
