Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 revealed his concern for Swansea’s Michu after the Spaniard went to ground following a clash between both players.
Lloris claims that he was ‘terrified’ when Michu went to ground after a heavy collision between him and the Spaniard. Michu had gone for an aerial ball which Lloris came out to punch away, and both players collided in mid-air, with Michu at the receiving
end of the collision.
Referee Mike Dean had decided to wave on play despite the incident, and this had infuriated Swansea manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup, who felt that the referee should have stopped play and ensure Michu received prompt medical attention.
Tottenham had gone on to win the game through a solitary http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814 goal in the 75th minute. The match was a tight affair, though Tottenham had dominated possession and had more shots on Swansea’s goal.
The collision took place in the dying minutes of the game when Michu leapt to head the ball but ended up hitting Lloris in mid air, and falling to the ground.
Lloris was visibly concerned after the collision, especially when Michu took his time to get up and lay motionless on the pitch. Lloris in the meantime stayed with Michu to make sure the player was okay. At the other end, Tottenham had come close to scoring
a second goal through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andros-Townsend-c6023, but Lloris was only concerned with Michu’s welfare.
Speaking after the game, Lloris had said:
“I was terrified when I saw him on the ground. I had to go for it and impose myself. I made the decision to punch and unfortunately there was a big collision. It’s okay, he got up and it was more a fear than injury. I asked him several times, he said there’s
no problem.”
In other news, Lloris revealed his happiness at finally starting more games for Tottenham and believes he is growing as a player. He said:
“From the beginning I’ve been adapting. That is, learning about the game both on and off the pitch, and I’ve discovered many things. This is a great adventure, both on a human and a sporting level.”
