Loaded Question about Cruise on Royal Carribbean.?

I am going on my first cruise next Thursday. I'm going on RC Enchantment of the Seas. Any suggestions on things to do in Cozumel or Key West?

Also, can anyone with RC experience tell me alcoholic drink pricing range? I hear the drinks are not strong and very pricey and that on certain bars on the boat they are some bars on the boat that charge more/less? Also I know RC does not allow you to bring anything on board but I would love to bring my own bottle of vodka but I am scared I will be kicked off. Does anyone have any real sure way suggestions for me to get a pint or half gallon on the ship and to my room?

  1. we have always taken our own and have never had a problem.  just make sure u have plastic containers like others have suggested.  we have even bought liquor in the store on the ship and was able to talk the clerk into letting us pay the corkage fee to take it back to our room.

prices onboard do vary accourding to drinks. its not to much different than what u would pay at home.

take a look at RCI websites for excursions at both places and see what excites u. u can also purchase them online.  we did the helmet dive which was fun and the beaches.

  2. Well in Cozumel, the last time we did a dolphin swim.  There are also historic sites to visit there.  Key West usually we just walk around, do some shopping, maybe rent a jetski (don't book through the cruise line for jetskis though, you can probably get it cheaper once off the ship).

As far as drinks go, it depends.  The drink prices aren't outrageous and I actually found that the drinks in the theatre are stronger than on the deck.  Make sure you aren't buying the glass that the drink comes with (they sell drinks of the day in fancy glasses that you get to keep many don't realize it's costing about $5 more).  Any bottles of alcohol that you purchase on board are not delivered to your room until the last night, so that's out.  You can try sneaking on small bottles that you buy on the island but if they find it, they'll take it and send it to your room for the last night with the bottles you purchase on board.

  3. The price for alcohol in the duty free shop on the ship is usually much less than the liquor stores in the US. And they usually have specials on different types on each day. You just have to wait until the ship is in international waters and then they will open the shop.

  4. This is what we did on a Royal Caribbean cruise:

We bought 2 liter bottles of Sprite.

Dumped out almost all, but not all, of the Sprite.

Poured in a few bottles of Vodka.

They didn't even check it.  It looked bubbly and therefore, like Sprite

  5. Went to Cozumel in Feb. Our group enjoyed the Beach Break CZ68.  Open bar (yes, watered down drinks, but if you tip well, they get better!), buffet lunch and lots of water activities.  Pretty nice beach and water.

Drinks weren't unreasonable $5 -7 for wine and about the same for a drink. Watch it becasue they already add the gratuity to the bill.

I've been on 2 RC cruises and brought my own libations both times.  Just make sure it's in a plastic container as glass could get broken during handling.  First time I put them in a rubbermaid type, but in Feb, I just brought it in the Schmirnoff bottles. My daughter just went on one a couple of weeks ago and had no issues either.

The worst that can happen is that they'll confiscate it.  They will not kick you off!

Hope that helps and have a great trip!

  6. I have always taken my own drinks onboard. Just make sure you put them in your luggage and not in your carry on. If they find it in your carry on ( one of my friends done this) then they will pour it out in front of you or make you wait until you depart and give it back. Also we took a whole  case of beer one time. We only put alcohol with things that wouldnt get hurt if for some reason the alcohol burst. hope this helps

  7. THE PRICES OF THE DRINKS ARE LIKE EVERY WHERE ELSE.  IN REGARDS TO WHAT TO DO IN KEY WEST , YOU CAN RENT A HYBER CLUB CAR WHICH FITS FOR AND DRIVE AROUND FOR THE ENTIRE TIME THE SHIP IS DOCKED.  BE AWARE THERE ARE DIFFERENT PRICES SO SHOP AROUND BEFORE YOU PICK ONE.  ANOTHER THING TO DO I  KEY WEST IS TO WALK AROUND AND GET A TOUR FROM ONE OF THEN TOUR OPERATORS ON NEAR WHERE THE SHIP DOCKS

  8. If you can't afford the drinks, you shouldn't go on the cruise, or you shouldn't drink.  If you are really going to drink alone in your room then you could probably get some booze as a souvenir at the first stop.
