OK, kind of a long story, I will try to shorten it. Basically, I was trying to log into my bank account online access when I noticed it was asking for the SSN as well as login ID and password. Well, I called up my bank before imputing anything in, spoke to 3 reps, and the last rep told me I probably had a virus on my computer and told me to search "free antivirus" software in Goggle. He told me that a program AVG free would come up and to select it. he told me to download it, run the computer scan, remove the suggested items, and restart my computer. We ended the call. I did all this, and found out there was a detection of a virus. I told it to remove. i then restarted the computer and have not been able to use it since. The background comes up, with no icons. It will give me no access to the computer. if I hit Clt Alt Del to bring up a task manager or something, it says that function has been locked by the administrator which drives me nuts because I AM the administrator! Ugh!!! When I try to bring up the startup page, it will not allow me to. Anyone have any ideas? I am so clueless here and really can not afford to take it somewhere to get fixed. Thanks in advance.

  1. well he was partly right but there still could be keylogging software on you computer that needs removed i suggest getting Ad-Aware 2008 its free also and you can get it at www.cnet.com. As for logging in try rebooting and hitting F8 as soon as it turns on then select to boot into safe mode with networking. download ad-aware and run that and run AVG again. once both are complete go to system restore and pick a date back to when you think you didn't have the virus. if you guess wrong don't worry it won't put it back on your PC it just effects settings and not data.

  2. Will booting in safe mode do the trick? If you want go to the internet when the computer starts booting up press F8 a couple a time and choose safe mode with networking.
