Question:

Loads more energy?

About a week after I started eating a vegetarian diet I noticed that I am literally never tired, I feel like I can stay up all night, I'm not eating sugars or caffeine either so I know that's not it. I also have a problem with anxiety and I've noticed that has greatly improved and I feel very relaxed muscle wise all over. I'm loving this, but do a lot of people feel like this after cutting out meat or is it just me? Thanks!

  1. Noticed the same thing.

It's exactly why I became vegan in the first place; for athletic performance.  I was simply researching the optimum human diet -- the most natural diet for humans pertaining to their digestive system and what it is ideally designed for.  My performance went way up.  I was up all night, I would do training, then straight afterwards go play tennis with my friends... I could just go and go and go.  My mind was reeling with thoughts -- was like a cloud I never knew was there was lifted from my mind... I'd be awake all night simply because I just could not stop thinking about things.  Still to this day (became vegan in 1990) I feel pretty much the same way, although my two daughters run me into the ground on a daily basis, but I'm up from 4:30-5:30am and am in bed by 9 10 or 11, then read for a while, then try to sleep.  Yeah, my eyes are very tired and more sleep would be great, but I'm still able to work doing landscaping all day and also head out to do a  bike riding a few times a week.

  2. Put it to good use and spread the vegetarian message. Perhaps God is giving it to you for a reason?

I had no loss or gain of energy, but I wouldn't complain about it. Read yourself to sleep. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_...

  3. First off I am happy for you. You made a wonderful life choice. Being a vegetarian is wonderful, sometimes I wish I had stayed that way. You aren't the only one. I was growing up a vegetarian and had a happy life. I was a positive person, I had energy, I slept well at night. Then my mom married. We began eating meat, I started reaching my pre-teens. I wasn't as happy, I didn't sleep as well at night, I grew stressful, often felt fatigued. Now I have depression issues that my parents are only vaguely aware of. I lay in bed awake for hours. I struggle to stay awake during the day but can't fall asleep later on. I plan on becoming a vegetarian when I move out. You're lucky. And to flat out answer the question, no you're not the only one.
