do they feel pain?? i never cooked them myself but i can remember growing up when my parents cooked them. i remember them constantly moving around in the boiling water. you could hear them. it was sad. i can remember getting upset. it STILL upsets me.

i would imagine they feel pain because they are living, breathing things. what do you think?

  1. every animal feels pain. never eaten lobster though...

if i saw that happening, i'd grab the bucket and try to save the lobsters. its sad what humans do today(and back then) to animals. i think we should never cook a animal alive. would you like it if someone picked you up, put you in boiling water and waited for you to die and become edible. i think not!

  2. I'm sure they can feel pain, but, that said, I believe that shellfish pretty much die as soon as they hit the boiling water. Try not to feel upset by what happened, because the sounds that you heard were almost certainly just the bodies jiggling around because of the water boiling around them, much the same way a boiling egg does.

When I was a kid, we used to boil crayfish in boiling water, and I'm sure they died instantly.

    Hope that helps.

  3. I imagine that all animals feel pain just because that might be how it detects danger or harm to itself.
