Local Realtor vs. ReMax?

I'm living in rural Hawaii looking to sell my home and I'm having trouble deciding whether to go with a small local realtor or a bigger outfit like Re Max who has offices 30 minutes away in the neighboring town. I'm thinking the bigger outfits will be able to pull in more mainland buyers?

  1. go with ReMax - they have a larger network to expose your home to potential buyers

  2. Depends on who you feel more at ease with doing business with. Good luck!

  3. Studies show that most buyers search for homes via the internet before they ever contact a real estate agent. In most markets that I am aware of agents post their listings to their local mutiple lisiting service. This data is then made available via the internet through mutiple sources. A buyer does not care who has a listing. Their only concern is whether or not the home meets their price range and needs. In my opinion you would probably get better service from a smaller company that needs your business. Bigger is not always better. If you do a little research I think you will find that most of the time the listing agent is not the one who finds the buyer. It will buy an outside agent. This should give you room to negotiate commissions.

    Good Luck
