So, I got a new tv, a LCD flat panel tv. And, my local channels through Directv, which if you're familiar with Directv you get two separate dishes on your roof for the local channels. And, as soon as I plugged it in to the tv, I get every other channel except my 5 local channels it says "searching for satellite"? What could be the problem? It was working fine with my other tv but not with this one! Could it be the tv or the satellite? Please help!

  1. It's not the TV set, since you do get a picture and sound....it's your satellite and since you state there are two dishes, your local feed is one of the two....That dish either needs realigned OR it may have a bad LNB -- that little square box on the dish itself.

Call Direct Tv and get it fixed....

  2. Before calling DirecTv, try unplugging your tuner, also unscrew the coax for a few minutes and re-connect it. If that still doesn't work, call DirecTv. The local channels might be in MPEG-4, which would require the very latest tuner. They can tell you if this is the case with your local channels.

  3. Direct TV doesnt normally broadcast local stations and they some times charge to ad local channels. call them and see what is going on, maybe they did something wrong and that is why you aren't getting the local channels.
