Local salesman for newspaper??

Im trying out for a job as a salesman selling subscriptions of a local newspaper company. Any tips on how to make the sale?

does the newspaper feature coupons that could save the consumer money (savings would more than cover the cost of the paper?)

You will have to know how to overcome the typical objections:

"I don't have time to read the paper."

"I get my news from the Internet or TV."

Ask your sales manager, or the person who hired you, how to overcome these objections.

Really, though, subscriptions sales, is a numbers game. Apartment dwellers are your best bet... they are more transient, and there are always new residents -- these are your prime candidates who want to learn about local news, shopping, dining, and entertainment.
