Local temperature?

what can I do to in order to view the current temperature on my desktop next to the clock?

Try www.weatherbug.com.  They have a free download that will display your local temperature, that you can click on to get your local forecast, and will chirp a warning if a severe weather warning/watch is issued for your area.  You may also want to try looking at www.weather.com - the Weather Channel's site.  They may have something like what you are looking for in case you aren't impressed by Weather Bug.  Good luck, take care.
