Question:

Locations for Winter Wedding?

I know a lot of people do destination weddings to the beach, but I'm from Florida and want snow! We're planning the wedding to be around Christmas and want to go the whole nine yards, including a beautiful outdoor environment, lodging for all guests and a horse and carriage. What are some good locations in the U.S. or Canada?

  1. The North Pole.

  2. How about the Ice Hotel in Quebec?  It is built out of ice and is only open in the winter months.  The rooms are very comfortable with warm fur bedding even though the room and the platform bed are carved out of ice.

Any hotel in Quebec City would be beautiful.

Banff Springs Hotel in Banff National Park or the Jasper Park Lodge in Jasper National Park.

Any ski resort in the U.S. or Canada - snow would be almost guaranteed

  3. White Mountains NH- http://www.mountainviewgrand.com/new_ham...  personal favorite!

    Rockport ME

    Colorado- http://www.skicb.com/winter-groups-weddi...

    Killington VT

    Utah

    Ice Hotel in Canada

    Lake Taho NV- http://www.wedtahoe.com/weddings/winter....

  4. Central Park in NY wow it is beautiful

From the classically designed Conservatory Garden to the scenic panorama from Hernshead overlooking the Lake, Central Park's 843 acres offer an endless array of romantic settings.  Whether it's in front of the Dancing Maidens of the Untermayer Fountain, underneath a pastorally secluded weeping willow near the Pool or above Bow Bridge on beautiful Cherry Hill the park has a site that will make your special day a memorable one.

As you might expect there are some requirements for wedding ceremonies and photography in Central Park. Use  the links below to find out more about what you need to do. 5. upstate new york, vermont, and connecticut are all lovely in the winter. but again, there is no guarentee whether or not there will be snow

  6. Lake Tahoe might be nice!

  7. If in Canada, you'd want to go to a populated place so there'd be lights because up here, especially in the winter it gets dark right away and the lights of the city would be nicer than dullness. I don't think Canada has as much cities as Florida.

  8. Easy! Try Whistler, in BC, near Vancouver, in Canada.

Excellent facilities, top ski resort, amazing locale, and a lot of wedding services around. It is a favourite destination.

Alternatively, you can go to Banff, Alberta, (also in Canada) which is also awesome and near Lake Louise, which is even more amazing.. there are tons of wedding services there as well.

Plus, in both places the hotels etc are used to doing destination weddings, so they could set the whole thing up for you. Or find a local wedding planner / consultant.

There are lots of good websites to help you .. I 'll list some below

But Banff and Lake Louise are confined in the mountains - there is nothing else to do.

Whereas Whistler is an hour from Vancouver, which is the #1 city in the world. So I say a Whistler / Vancouver wedding all the way

  9. Well I think you should have your wedding in Canada! Since its so beautiful there! Flowers, Snow, everything great there!

  10. florida it hot as f/u/c/k down here winter is only as low as 50 degrees

  11. Colorado is beautful with many lodges or party places on snowy hills with carriage rides and hot coco. Somewhere else might be michigan! beautiful.

  12. I was watching a wedding show the other day they had a beautiful winter wonderland wedding in colorado

  13. Niagara Falls (Canadian or Us side your choice)

They have an area for weddings and receptions.

  14. Well anywhere up north but then you run the risk of having really BAD winter weather. What about Colorado?

  15. Antartica.

  16. Antarctica, just think you never hear anyone getting married their. So youll be the only ones who remember, and no 50 million other people who got married their too.

  17. try Alaska!

  18. I just love wedding planning.  So this questions is fun for me.  Now, I don't know how big of a wedding your having, but somethings to think about are your guest.  Destination weddings are usually smaller but often they put more expenses on the guests that do attend, namely travel and hotel cost.  I've had friends tell me how disappointed they were that more people did not attend their wedding in Hawaii.  It's not that people don't want to go to Hawaii or the wedding, it's just expensive, far, kids in school, vacations already planned etc...

So if you plan to invite more than just your immediate family and closest friends give a lot of advance notice.... like a 9mo-year!

So let me ask you this...where will people be flying form?  You want to think about transportation because of the snowy climate.  If you go too far off the beaten path, it maybe romantic but what if a favorite aunt gets snowed in at an airport.

Upper New York State is beautiful.  The Adirondacks Mountains are a great destination place because you and your guests can get less expensive air fare, into NYC or even NJ, especially from Florida.

Vermont....countless inns and scenic locations. Vermont locations seem to be coming up a lot on the search engines.

Colorado!!  I personally like Vail.  If you have people attending from all over the country that's smack in the middle.

A cruise to Alaska wedding would be special too.

There are so many romantic inns and cozy ski resorts you can just go crazy.   I recommend The Knot reception locator or http://www.countryweddings.com/  I've also included a few more websites and articles.  Good Luck and Congrats.

  19. Quebec is a beautiful city and very romantic. Hotel Frontenac is world class or you could have a ceremony at one of the lodges.. good luck!

  20. new hampshire is nice its not to bad its perfect for a wedding thats were i live and i plan on being married in the winter

  21. The U.P. of Michigan gets a lot of snow every year, so if you really want your snow, that's the place to go.

The farther you go up, the colder it gets, the higher chances of snow.

    Good luck!
