Are Lochinvar water heaters high quality, reliable, efficient, etc.? They mostly make commercial water heaters, but do have some residential ones. Do they make their own residential ones, or get them from some other company?

  1. Dilbert I've installed hydronic systems for years what is it exactly that your trying to do?All manufactures make good products and bad ones it just depends on the equipment you're trying to purchase.I have to disagree on the on demands. The flow switches act up the heat exchangers get plugged with dust bugs, and lint in the air.And we've gone back to many many houses and reequiped them with tank style water heaters after the homeowners get tired of calling service tecks. They are just high  maintenence products with little energy savings

  2. On demand is the way to go. No storage tank that keeps it hot when you need it. It fires up a rediator that water passes thru and only heats what you need.

It turns on when you open a hot water faucet and shuts off when you close it. Only way to go when the outdated water heater need replaceing.

    Google hot water on demand.

  3. I don't agree with the demand type, maybe I am too old school. They are very expensive to purchase, and install. Once installed, they will ruin everything you saved with one service call.

Lochinvaar is a good brand, and they do make 40 and 50 gallon heaters for residential use.
