is it possible to stop data in an Access Databse from being edited at all.

  1. Yes.  You can restrict Read/Write access based on user names administered in Access (not Windows).  I only have Office 2007 in front of me, where it's under Database Tools / Users and Permissions.

    I did manage to tie Access user name to Windows user names on one project.
