Lockout!! Who cares? – It’s Chris Bosh's Wedding -
NBA Feature
As it currently stands, the NBA players are officially locked out. This implies that the NBA Management team/Coaching staff cannot initiate any sort of contact with its players, not even in the virtual world. Yes, that includes
everything from emails to social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter.
Intermingling is absolutely forbidden. I repeat, no intermingling is allowed between the Management and the players during the lockout. Absolutely Zero. Nada. Zilch.
Unless, of course, it is an extremely important matter; the wedding of an elite superstar of the game – Chris Bosh. Bosh recently tied the knot with Adrienne Williams in a grand $300,000 wedding. However, what stole the headlines
was the fact that all the Miami Heat Executives were present alongside the likes of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Juwan Howard.
So, how exactly did this happen? The news certainly envelops an element of shock in it, but apparently permission was granted to both parties to attend the luxurious wedding.
“There are exceptions to the general no-contact rule in special or unusual circumstances. Don’t have to be so general in this case. We’re allowing them to attend.” said NBA spokesman Tim Frank.
It is reported that, initially, the players and the Executives were seen sitting apart from each other. However, that was until the dance floor was opened and a ‘No Holds Barred’ license was issued.
The impending issue here is that the NBA is not willing to officially discuss the lockout matter until August this year, however, talks regarding Chris Bosh’s wedding carry enough importance to be resolved behind closed doors.
So, the problem then is that the NBA is willing to put on hold the future lives and job prospects of thousands of supplementary and part time workers, but is making sure that the overpaid pompous superstars face no hindrance in
their personal lives as a result of this lockout.
Who said the NBA doesn’t safeguard its player’s interests? Chris Paul, take notice.
Dare I say, this move might be a direct consequence of the recent exodus of players like Deron Williams and Marcin Gortat from NBA. Is the National Basketball Association, all of a sudden, scared to lose its superstars?
Or maybe the ‘extra’ perks of this wedding were too much to be ignored by the NBA.
Food for thought, maybe?
Whatever the case might be, this act by the NBA has gone some distance in tarnishing its image as a professional organization. This incident is reflective of the exact same culture that exists in most societies. The elite always
get to have their way, whereas, the average masses are there to act as tools.
If the lockout continues, the people likely to be most affected are the fans and those helpless workers who are facing a huge predicament in the form of potential unemployment.
Anyway, who cares? Did you know that Chris Bosh had custom-made scented candles at his wedding, worth $25,000?
