Locnamon Brian takes comfortable victory in the Shelbourne A5 525 Round 1 Heat 1
Locnamon Brian stormed to a comprehensive victory in the Shelbourne A5 525 Round 1 Heat 1 at Shelbourne Park in Ireland on Wednesday, March 21, 2012. He performed well in the event and bagged a cash prize of €50.
Following were the greyhounds, who took part in the race: Locnamon Brian, Five Alley Mick, Moss Lane, Quarterland Spot, Metronomic and Calico Rubey.
The bookmakers had awarded Locnamon Brian and Moss Lane with very good odds. However, the former of the two hounds dominated the proceedings and managed to win the race by two lengths.
Mullan’s trainee completed the race distance in 28.70 seconds. He started off decently and gained advantage over the rest of the participants. No one was able to catch him from then onwards, as he continued to build on the lead.
The race favourite hound is the son of Swords Prince out of Ballydaniel Hare and was born in March 2010. This victory would have given him so much confidence and he will continue getting decent odds in the future events.
Second place went to Five Alley Mick, which was a surprise, as he was not expected to deliver a strong result. He was given a starting price of 3 to 1 by the bookmakers and was the least favourite to finish in top two.
Hogan’s trainee did not have any problems in the race, as he had a clear run. This allowed him to build a solid gap over his rivals. However, he failed to challenge the front runner and finished in a distant runner up position.
This run would have boosted the confidence of Five Alley Mick, who will be expected to produce some consistent results from now onwards. The fawn dog is the son of Hondo Black out of Adebayor and was born in June 2010.
The disappointment of the day was Moss Lane, who had a starting price of 4 to 6 and was the favourite to win. He failed to deliver a strong result and could only manage third in the end.
The rest of the hounds were unable to make an impression, as they did not have good stamina and also had a few problems during the race.
