Loeffler, Jenkins, Abdullah and Johnson on Vikings’ injury list – NFL News
Sad news for Minnesota Vikings came on Tuesday when the team management placed four of its key players onto the season-ending injury reserve list. The players include Cullen Loeffler, Michael Jenkins, Husain Abdullah and Tyrell Johnson.
Long snapper Cullen has broken a bone in his lower back and will not be able to play any game in the current season. He started his career with Vikings in 2004 and stayed with the franchise from the beginning.
The second player on the list is wide receiver Michael Jenkins, who is suffering from a knee injury. There are reports that the player might not have to undergo a surgery to repair his knee, but that does not permit him to enter the field.
This is Jenkins’ first season with Vikings. He started his professional career in the year 2004 with Atlanta Falcons and played for seven seasons with them. This season, he has played 11 games and started seven of them. He has 38 receives for 466 yards with an average of 12.3 yards per receive. He also has three touchdowns to his credit.
Another player whose season has been ended is safety Husain Abdullah who is suffering from concussion from last three weeks. During the week 10 game against Green Bay Packers, he was injured and could not return on the field after that game.
Husain started his professional career with Vikings in the year 2008. This season he has played nine games and recorded 49 tackles and 1.0 sack.
One more safety, Tyrell Johnson, is also injured and will not be able to recover before the next season. During the last week lost against Atlanta Falcons 24-14, Johnson received a hamstring injury. Vikings’ coach Leslie Frazier later termed his injury ‘significant’, indicating that the damage caused was severe.
Johnson started his career with Vikings in the year 2008. This season, he has played 11 games and started three of them. He has 28 tackles to his credit.
The injuries have come as a huge blow to Vikings, who are already dejected because of the poor performance in the season. They have only won two games this season and lost nine and ranked at the bottom of the National Football Conference North division.
