Logan Forsythe shines as San Diego Padres defeat Pittsburgh Pirates 7-3 - MLB Update

San Diego Padres’ third baseman, Logan Forsythe had a remarkable day with the bat as he hit three RBIs including a single run and went 1-for-3 with an average of .197 in the Padres’ 7-3 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park, Pittsburgh on August
7.
During the first inning of the game, the batters looked powerless with their bat as they were unable to post runs on the score-board. At the top of the first inning, Jason Bartlett had a walk but at third base Will Venable fouled out as Cameron Maybin popped
out and at right-field Jesus Guzman flied out.
Similarly, the Pirates also seemed immobilised at the bottom of the first inning as at centre-field, Xavier Paul flied out and at short-stop position Matt Diaz grounded out. However, the Padres scored their initial run in the second inning to take a 1-0
lead when Forsythe was grounded out to short-stop and Orlando Hudson completed a single run.
Padres were on top until the fifth inning as the pitchers had great control on their throws and did not give any run. Pirates missed some scoring runs during the third inning when Paul drove a single-run shot towards shallow centre-field but at second base,
Brandon Wood popped out and Kevin Correia struck-out swinging.
In the sixth inning, the Padres raised their lead 4-0 by posting three runs. Forsythe singled off centre-field while Guzman and Hudson added two consecutive runs at the top of the sixth inning. The third run for the Padres was taken by Kyle Blanks when Forsythe
moved to third base to end the sixth inning.
Padres led off 5-0 during the seventh inning when Venable contributed a single run on the single-run drive of Bartlett towards right-field. At the top of the eighth inning, the Padres took two runs to increase their lead while the Pirates broke their silence
by blasting three runs to reduce the 7-3 difference, at the bottom of the eighth inning
Blanks and Forsythe both added two runs jointly for the Padres when Venable doubled to deep centre-field. On the other side, Wood struck a three-run homer (385 feet) while Ryan Doumit and Pedro Alvarez scored two collective runs for the Pirates. However
the Padres swept the Pirates 3-0 in the three-game series.
