Logan Loader sealed the final stage at the Merco Cycling Classic, Tom Zirbel claimed the overall classifications at the race
Logan Loader of Team Exergy secured the final stage of the Merco Cycling Classic 2012.
He overcame his competitors during the 193.5 kilometre Almond Blossom Road Race in a quickest time of 4 hours, 15 minutes and 27 seconds.
Ken Hanson, Tyler Brandt, Diego Yepez and Bryan Larsen occupied the second, the third, the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
He was delighted after the stage win, "It feels really good, not only for me but for the team. They worked so hard for me in the past two days", he told Cyclingnews.
Loader briefed that he has ridden the race on four different occasions but the competition level at the current edition of the race was at its peak.
He noted, "The whole race people were attacking non-stop. I've done this race four times and this was the most aggressive I've ever seen it. With 1km to go every team was putting someone up the road”.
Logan Loader, Tyler Brandt and Diego Yepez were the top three young riders on the day.
Lucas Binder, Austin Carroll and Scott Zwizanski succeeded during the Sprints category of the event.
Patrick Bevin of Team Bissell Pro Cycling continued his overall dominance at the race and achieved the first position at the overall classifications.
Logan Loader finished 13 seconds behind to occupy the second position while Tom Zirbel, Serghei Tvetcov and Evan Huffman achieved the third, the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
"We weren't going to be content with second place. We wanted to see what we could do, but Bissell rode great, they definitely earned the win today", Zirbel said after crossing the finish line.
Patrick Bevin of Team Bissell Pro Cycling claimed the top position at the Points classifications. He grabbed a total number of 75 points to achieve the top spot while Logan Loader finished second with 57 points in his pocket.
Ken Hanson, Tyler Brandt and Christiaan Kriek were the next three cyclists after the final point’s classifications.
Kristin Armstrong, Joelle Numainville and Leah Kirchmann succeeded at the Women’s category of the race.
Ina-Yoko Teutenberg and Janel Holcomb grabbed the fourth and the fifth positions during the Merco Cycling Classic 2012.
