Logan Morrison sparks as Florida Marlins defeat Texas Rangers 6-4 – MLB Update
Florida Marlins’ left-fielder, Logan Morrison had a notable day with the bat as he went 1-for-4 with an average of .268 and hit two RBIs in the Marlins’ 6-4 victory against the Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on July 3.
Emilio Bonifacio was grounded out to second base and Omar Infante grounded out towards third base at the top of the first inning. The Rangers’ batters also failed in scoring shots as Ian Kinsler walked but Elvis Andrus flied out to right-field and Adrian
Beltre lined out towards third base.
Nelson Cruz hit a solo homer (419 feet) towards left-field to open the scoring account for the Rangers and gave his team a 1-0 lead. In the third inning, the pitchers got the batters out due to their striking throws in the right areas.
The Rangers led off 2-0 at the bottom of the fourth inning when Beltre struck a one-run homer (417 feet) towards right-field. At the top of the fifth, Wes Helms flied out to centre-field and Bryan Petersen struck-out swinging without any run. The Rangers
missed some runs to extend their lead when Andrus popped out towards short-stop at the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Marlins got off the mark during the sixth inning and reduced their lead 2-1 when Bonifacio scored one run on the drive of Gaby Sanchez towards deep left-field. Seventh inning again went without any score as the pitchers struck-out the batters. Javier
Vazquez gave up two runs on six hits in his six inning pitches and threw the ball with an ERA of 5.64. He permitted one walk on 89 pitches and had three strike-outs.
The Marlins’ batters exploded four runs at the top of the eighth while the Rangers posted just one run to advance the score-board 5-3. Petersen, Sanchez, Hanley Ramirez and Dewayne Wise each singled to finish the four-run campaign for the Marlins. On the
other side, Andrus contributed one run for the Rangers when Beltre reached towards second base on an infield single.
In the ninth inning, Helms added one run when Bonifacio singled off centre-field to raise the Marlins’ lead. Cruz scored a single run when Daniel Murphy tripled to deep left-field. The game ended at 6-4.
Having put in a decent performance for the victory, the Marlins sealed the three-game series 2-1 at Texas.
