Question:

Logical Thinking, is my way the best way ?

I think a lot and I say this way is best to get a conclusion... Am I right?

Thinking from a neutral perspective, putting all bad points next to the good points to see what is the best thing to do...

With that, always stay open to new points that improve your opinion...

Anyone here that thinks this is good or can you help me improve my ways ?

  1. your trapped in a set of thinking ...a system....and all systems have weakness

  2. Your way is the best for you!  This is what makes us so unique!

If we all thought alike, life would be b-o-o-ring!

But you do have a positive spin on it!  'Positive' is always good!  :D

  3. I can relate, but we should be careful not to be too dependent on logic.  Intuition, for example, is a powerful tool.  While we may not be able to follow the logic taken by our subconscience, that does not mean it is not logical.  In fact, it is quite frequently the case that it is making a far more efficient use of logic than our conscious is even capable of, taking into account a far greater number of factors, and executing far more complex relationships of syllogisms.  The logical side of our brain does not want to trust our intuition because we know that it can be influenced by or confused with a strong passion, but that is not always the case.

So do not discount what appears to be illogical, for it may merely appear to be so.  And do not rely too heavily on what appears to be the most logical, for it may only appear to be so.  Besides, there are some things in this world worth believing even if they are not true, because they will lead you to the truth.  For example, Isaac Newton was able to discover the laws of motion partly because he operated under the assumption that he could trust his senses, but Descartes has shown it is not logical to trust our senses.

  4. Even after having analysed a situation for pros and cons, some people will go their way despite that, knowing it is not the best, because they are unable to 'fall in line' and accept a course of action which, though logical and reasonable, goes against their conscience, does not 'fall in line' with themselves.

  5. Terrific.

    It's similar to chess.

  6. It is but it is also logical to beware that others may not be thinking logically.

  7. Actually the majority of people are more left brained (logical and systematic) than right brained (creative, open minded and artsy). I'm like you but I have absolutely no creativity, I just have logic. Of course I do have feelings, I'm not a drone. The best is to be both logical and creative (using your left and right brain) as all genuises are.

  8. your way of thinking is of course the most logical as you see al the bad and good and can make the right decision but some people prefer deciding only from their instinct.

  9. Logically thinking NO.  You have reached an advance state of mental disorder and professional advice is a must before you do any harm.

  10. yes just like me...

  11. Well, it is definately a way that works, and a nice ideal to strive for. I'm not sure i can say its the 'best' way just cause you never know if there's something out there we haven't thought of yet!

You might also use the following points but just in case:

    1. No perspective is neutral.

Our life experience, cultural values, sometimes even the language(s) we think in will flavor the way we see things on a fairly deep level. It's not a problem, per se. It just means it pays to be more mindful of what our specific biases are, and calibrate for that when making assessments.

    2. If making an actual decision about something, feelings do definately matter. Be sure to give room to listen to your instincts if they seem to conflict with your logical appraisals -- that feeling often means there's some information you forgot.

  12. How, from a "neutral perspective", do you decide whether a point is "good" or "bad"?   This isn't a serious criticism of your method, merely a way to point out that there may be a lot going on without your explicit awareness or logical thought.

You have to first choose if a point is good or bad, right?

How do you make that decision or opinion?

Obviously not by the method you've described, or else you're caught in an infinite regression (e.g., how do you decide if the good bad points about a point being good or bad are good or bad points?)

Perfectly logical conclusions from bad axioms may still be bad choices.   All adherence to logic ensures is an internal consistency to your decision making.... not freedom from mistakes.

  13. If we didn't come to some conclusions, we would never make up our mind!

Where would we be then?  We never would get anything accomplished.  The trick is to once you have made up your mind about something, and feel good about it, then go ahead and act.  If you were wrong, you will gain experience, and that will help you to make better decisions in the future.

Try though to never become so set in your ways that you cannot at least see things from another person's perspective.

Their are times when in life the things that we thought we are sure of prove to not be quite what they thought they were.  When this happens, then we need to be open to changing our opinion on things.

Think of Thomas Edison.  How many times did he try to get it right before he actually did?  What if he would have said.  This is the right way, and I can't understand why it won't work.  So, I give up.  Instead, he took what knowledge he had gained from the experiment, added that to solving his problem, and tried again.  Finally, he got it right, and aren't we glad he did!

  14. This is a great for You !

Most people do not have logical steps for various reasons.  You do !  That's great !

When you practice this for some time, you may want to confirm that other ways, like intuitive choices and sometimes emotional loaded choices are just better than logical thinking in some situations as we are not just a logical being.

We are logical with built-in non-logical(not illogical) parts ...

    Take care.
