Logical explanation?

My son's CD player started to play a CD last night at 2am even though we were all asleep in bed. Rather than go down the supernatural route, I wondered if there was maybe a logical or scientific explanation out there (other than someone physically turning it on!). Any ideas?

Is the player on? If it is on and on standby, then it is possible that the self timer is on. If the plug is unplugged when you left it, then it turns on by itself, then it is hardly possible for a logical explaination. I can only assume that someone could be a bit careless (sorry for the offense, just assuming) and left the play timer on.

The automatic timer was pre-set to turn on and play at that time.
