Logitech LX5 Cordless optical mouse

I bought a Logitech LX5 Cordless optical mouse and plugged it in according to directions. Nothing happened. Does it need a special driver? No software was given in the package. It is needed for a low-vision person as it was advertised as having a magnifying help.
