I got a logitech z-640 system and i am having problems. When playing out of mp3 player ( ipod, mp3 player , and cd player ) as well as computer, i can only get centre and front speakers or centre and rear speakers. The problem when the green cable is put in the jack and i press matrix mode, it only plays out of the rear speakers.

  1. lol! This is a great question for the "Computers & Internte" and "Music & Music Players" forums, where computer speakers systems and MP3 players are teh topic of interest. I suggest you try posting there, if you don't get lucky and stumble over a correct answer you like, here in home theater.

  2. A surround system needs 5 or 6 channels of audio for the whole thing to work... the "green cable" is a stereo (2 channel) source.

What you're wanting is a Multi-Speaker Stereo Setup = The same sound coming from all the speakers (note that this is not Surround Sound... you're just surrounded by sound).

There's probably another at least one other jack or cable that connects to your speaker system if not two. You will need to connect those. If you source is CD/MP3 Player this is always stereo source (stereo = 2 channel) so you will need to add splitters from your CD/MP3 Player to connect those other cable/jacks to your speaker setup.
