Scott added, “A bit disappointing to three-jack the last, but I'm in good shape going into the weekend. I'm within shouting distance of the leaders at the moment”.
Carding a birdie on the opening hole on the front, Scott pulled in another at fourth and dropped a shot at par-three, 8th before making the turn.
He carded another two birdies on the back and dropped one shot at par-four, 14th.
Poised at number 12 on the OWGR, Scott is hoping to break into the top-ten, emulating his exceptional performance in the year 2007 where he surged to third on the OWGR.
Scott finished for a strong joint eighth in the Masters last month and is brimming with confidence to add up to his count of 18 professional victories of his career.
Meanwhile, world number one and one of the hot favourites of the event, Rory McIlroy missed the halfway cut, surprising many of the critics of the sport.
The 23-year-old McIlroy, who slumped to a level-par on the opening day, was hoping to pitch a better round on the second day in order to survive the halfway cut.
He fell for consecutive bogeys on the tricky course, falling for a disastrous four-over, 76 to lose all hopes to survive the cut.
McIlroy admitted that it remains one of the trickiest courses he has played on and it is difficult to position your shot near the greens.
He said, “Off the tee I find pretty difficult around here. You have really got to position your ball in the fairway and to give yourself at least a chance to get to some of these pins. I just didn't do that over the last couple of days”.
He added, “Birdied the first hole today and just couldn't get much going after that. I just need to try and get the hang of this golf course somehow. It's just I just find it pretty difficult, but yeah, just one of those weeks”.
Starting off from the back nine, the Northern Irishman clinched the lone birdie of the 18-hole stretch at the 10th and dropped two shots in alternate intervals before making the turn.
