Logo/Photoshop question?

Ok, so i have this logo. i'm looking forward to making a brand, and putting this logo on shirts. I'm using photoshop to edit this logo. I'm finished with the logo but i have a problem because i want just the logo so that i can put it on any color shirt (with no background). Unfortunately, i dont know how to remove the background from the logo (you know, the checkered background). I don't want the checkered (default) background to appear on the shirt when i take it to the print shop. all i want is the simple logo. No background. how do i get rid of it? Thanks in advance

  1. If you take the image to a print shop, save it as either a png or native psd file to keep the quality high.  The print shop if they are good at their job will have no problem opening your file and then printing it onto your shirts.

  2. Save your image as a png, and it should be transparent. The checked background is just there to inform the user that "there is no background" :P

  3. That checkerboard is NOT a printable background. It's the base image all Photoshop documents, it actually indicates there are no pixels there. It only shows in Photoshop, it will not print.

What format are you saving your images in? That's more important. But as I said the checkerboard only shows on the screen, it is not an actual background.
